A Lovely Shade of Grey!

IMG_9153

I recently tested a pattern for Design by Lindsay the designer of the Senna Dress, Skirt, and Top. Don’t worry, I believe as soon Lindsay gets all of the feedback from her testers, you’ll be able to purchase this sexy, comfy, casual-to-dressy pattern for your very own.

Design by Lindsay The Senna Dress

There are only two main pattern pieces. The back and the front are cut from the same pattern and there are no darts, facings, or set in sleeves. The Senna is made for stretch-knit fabric only. I used a light sweater knit fabric that I had in my stash for my first go around. Happily, I ended up with a very wearable muslin. I just may include it to my suitcase in my upcoming trip to NYC. It is comfortable, yet very stylish. Now, my husband thinks it’s a little tight around the hips, but then he admits he doesn’t really keep up with the latest trends in women’s fashion. I think it is very flattering, even on me, a grandma!

I serged all of the seams together, and used my new coverstitch machine to finish the neck, sleeves, and hem. This is the kind of dress you can make in the morning and wear by the afternoon. It’s simple and fun. The gathering on the sides is the highlight of the dress or skirt. When the pattern comes out, Lindsay will instruct you on precisely how to achieve a gathered stretchy side seam.

This was my first time testing a pattern and I enjoyed the process. I shared my experience with Lindsay, gave her a few suggestions, and praised her clever design. This is one dress, skirt, or top that you’ll love sewing up.

I’m already planning a black jersey knit dress for my daughter, who works for Benefit and is always treating me to the latest in makeup. She has to wear black to work. She’ll look stunning in this dress!

I’m planning a random giveaway of few handmade items in appreciation for my bloggy readers when I reach 350 followers or when I write my 400th post, which ever comes first, so follow me if you don’t all ready! Oh and I have new items in my store. Stop in and envy me!

Happy Sewing!
