Fancy Franken Frock

Say that three times fast! I’ve had this fabric in my stash for several years, and so it was great to have the opportunity to sew something up with it. I had a wonderfully creative time cutting into this embroidered border print linen. Figuring out just how to cut all the pieces so that I had enough for the skirt and the waistband went surprisingly quick.

I used the bodice of Dress – Sewing Pattern #4264 because it is sleeveless and has an neck/armhole facing. Then, to lengthen the bodice, I added a waistband using Dress –Dress With Pleats – Sewing Pattern #4324. The skirt of 4264, is a layered color/block style, with pleats at the waist, 4324 is also pleated at the waist.

I frankened the pattern again, by opting for no pleats and just gathering the skirt instead. It has an invisible side zipper, which makes the back look very neat. I have actually made 4324 and followed all the instructions exactly, including the pleating. You can check that one out here (another yellow dress).

Anyway, I’m pleased with the result of my Fancy new dress. I have a lot of fun mixing and matching elements of different Lekala styles. Because the patterns are all designed for the measurements that I select on the site, the troublesome fit issues are minimized, and I can play around with the parts, and come up with my own style. It’s Franken Fun!

Pink Dress

I feel “Pretty in Pink” !

My husband is on the right, his high school friends are in the middle. We had a nice dinner together, road the cable car, took Uber cars, and traveled across the bay on the ferry. Oh, and we watched the Giants lose to Colorado …again.
