Our last challenge on The Sew Weekly was an inspiration from some locale or city. I decided to go quite literal on this one made a dress from fabric with little buildings on it. NYC buildings to be exact. You can’t really tell they are buildings unless you get up close. I tried out a Simplicity Amazing fit pattern, which I liked except for the neck piece didn’t lie very flat on my shoulders. I’m not sure why. I took the photos in Santa Rosa, CA. My husband and I met up with my daughter for dinner. She is a great photographer, and I’m very lucky when she is available to take my picture.

Hi Barbara,
What a lovely article you wrote on the Sew Weekly website! That led me to your blog and I see you’ve given up RTW for the 2012 year.
On August 31 I gave up RTW for a year and pledged to sew my clothes. It has been one of the best decisions I have ever made! I started a blog to help with accountability which has truly been a great experience.
I’m so glad I was introduced to your blog and talents! Good luck!
